I've recently discovered an alarming number of people haven't read, or seen this series by Beverly Cleary. This was required reading at my elementary school. This along with The Rats of NIMH were my favorite rodent based stories as a child.
The movies always kind of creeped me out. Not because of the talking mouse, that was awesome. More likely because of Ray Walston. Dude is creepy. But I'm glad to find this on youtube as I haven't seen these since I was a kid.
Any parents of young children on OPPO try to get your kids to read these at some point and watch the movies. If a mouse can love motorcycles and cars then so can everyone.
Ralph S. Mouse, the most Jalop of mice, I will make sure you are remembered.
If embedding fails, go to around 10:40 for some adorable talking mouse learning how to ride a motorcycle.

I truly hated the vile and despicable atrocities they committed on The Rats of NIMH when they destroyed it into a movie. Magic, really?

Holy shit I forgot about The Mouse and the Motorcycle! I used to watch this all the time as a kid and play with my toy motorcycle as I watched.

That would be a great movie if the book didn't exist, because the animation was spectacular. For the sake of your eyes never even attempt to watch The Secret of NIMH 2. I'm pretty sure it was animated by a dead chimp.

I've become so jaded with all these "top x things you loved/forgot from the 80/90s" list. But every once in a while something new pops up that I had genuinely loved and forgotten - this is one of those things.

I'm sorry, you said "was." One does not stop being a Beverly Cleary fan. I just read a little about her , and she is a pretty cool lady. I had figured she had passed by now, but she is 97.
